Getting the most out of your stay on St Barts

Anything you think you know about the Caribbean, when thinking of St Barts, forget most of it.

Yes, St Barts has gorgeous weather, white sand beaches and turquoise seas, however any old island in the Caribbean has all that. For a Caribbean island, we can forget limbo, beach barbecues, cruise ships, steel bands, cheap beer, bus tours, hair braiding and henna tattoos.

Shopping, fine dining, yachting, spa treatments and generally spoiling oneself are the principle activities on St Barts. We have Gucci, Cartier, Haute Cuisine, Armani, Mega-Yachts, Champagne and Sushi. The cliché is “St Tropez in the Caribbean”, but St Barts is frankly better.

The Rothschilds and Rockefellers were the first people to frequent St barts, Humphrey Bogart, Howard Hughes and Greta Garbo found it in the 50s. It has the best hotels in the Americas and some of the best chefs and restaurants.

The USPs (how many unique points is one allowed?) of St Barts are luxury, lifestyle, yachting, relaxation gastronomy, health and beauty, tranquillity, security, privacy. On top of all that St Barts is friendly, very relaxed.

The island is French, 100% part of the French Republic and part of the European Union.

There is no unemployment, no poverty, no gangs, no fast-food, no casinos, no condos, no time shares, no all inclusives, no racial tension, virtually no crime and certainly no risk to personal safety, no gated resorts and no security guards…pure class basically.

It is where the rich and famous go on vacation, and all this is available to anyone who wants to enjoy it (it can be quite affordable in fact).

The island itself, is simply Caribbean charm.....with a French touch.
