Driving on St Barts
St Barts has no Uber or comparable ride-hailing. Taxis exist but are limited. The island is hot and hilly, with steep, winding roads between beaches, restaurants, and villas.
Almost every guest rents a car. A handful of villas sit close enough to shops and a beach that you might manage without one for short stays—but we still recommend a car for restaurants across the island and exploring beyond your immediate bay.
Due to narrow, steep roads, we generally recommend avoiding large vehicles or those with low ground clearance. Check access conditions with your villa or hotel before selecting a model.
